After a rapid and spectacular end to the 20 - year war in Afghanistan, on the first night of taking control of Afghanistan's capital, the victorious Taliban militants organized patrols to control security and prevent chaos on the streets of Kabul.

In an invitation to Afghan forces to respond with the help of the United States, White House spokeswoman Jane Saki announced today that U.S. President Joe Biden does not consider the Taliban takeover of Kabul inevitable.
