At a time of rising Western accusations against Tehran of targeting an Israeli ship in the Gulf, the head of the U.S. Central Intelligence Service, William Burns, is visiting Israel tomorrow Tuesday to examine the Iranian file.

Israeli media reported to Israeli officials that "the visit will last for three days, and that Burns is scheduled to meet with Mossad President David Barnea, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and other security and intelligence officials."

Officials say the talks: "It will focus on Iran's nuclear program and regional activities, with Israel wanting to know the position of US President Joe Biden's administration on new Iranian President Ibrahim Major."

It should be noted that the Japanese merchant ship owned by Liberia and operated by the Israeli-owned company "Zodiac Marytime" was attacked on 29 July, killing two crew members, nationals of the United Kingdom and Romania.

Israel said Saeed Ara Jani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard drone command, was behind the air attack on the ship.

In the context of the events, United Kingdom Ambassador to the United Nations Barbara Woodward said last week that Iran was behind the attack, adding that London would seek to hold Tehran accountable for its alleged involvement.

Iranian Foreign Affairs also called the accusations by the US Secretary of State and his British counterpart to her country that they were behind the attack on an Israeli-operated oil tanker off the coast of Amman in the Arabian Sea "empty statements."
