Within the framework of precautionary and proactive measures to counter any security threat that may be posed by movement progress The Taliban are in the country. An

American government official in Washington revealed that President Joe Biden's administration had asked the political and security services of the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs and the Central Intelligence Agency to "Develop operational plans and prepare to evacuate US Embassy staff and contractors in Kabul and transport them to a Gulf country" if ordered.

The official, who asked not to be named, added that one of the most prominent reasons for the worsening security situation in Afghanistan now is that "the Afghan army faces the problem of the absence of many of its personnel for no reason" and disassociates them, as well as "the defection of entire units in the regions of the parties," as he put it.

On the prospect of the US Embassy being closed in the Afghan capital, the official admitted that there were all possibilities, and that the Taliban's advance on more than one front shows that its insurgency is drawing forced and involuntary sympathy from the population for their lives and those of their families.

This development comes hours after the United States Department of State formally requested all American citizens to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible, following the movement's field successes.
