on Tuesday high excellence Mr. Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti highlighted the work carried out by firefighters in the country and reiterated the Government's commitment to supporting them.
The Head of State expressed the Government's stance in his speech at a ceremony to deliver personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Peruvian General Volunteer Firefighters Department.
The delivered supplies included 939 high-quality PPE items, which will benefit 64 volunteer fire departments in Lima and Callao.
According to Mr. Sagasti, this delivery is intended to close gaps in the acquisitions that have not been met.
The top official highlighted the selfless dedication and sacrifice that firefighters show when carrying out their work.
"These are true examples of their vocation of service," he pointed out.
This vocation of service, he added, must characterize all Peruvians.
He also noted that some 3,255 women serve in the different fire departments, that is, they make up 20% of the staff, which contributes to gender equality.
During the event, held on Tuesday morning, the Head of State was accompanied by Interior Minister Jose Elice and authorities of the Peruvian General Volunteer Firefighters Department.
