Mexican photojournalist, Jaime Castaño Zacharias, was assassinated last Wednesday in the state of Zacatecas, central Mexico, after photographing the bodies of two people killed on a highway.

The photographer, who works in the field of social communication in the municipality of Jerez, in the state of Zacatecas, which suffers from widespread armed violence, was on his motorbike returning from his mission when he was intercepted, two hours after photographing the bodies of the two dead, armed men who were in a car that followed him hidden. As soon as they approached him, they shot him several bullets to drop a dead body after taking with them the memory of his camera.

With this assassination, Jaime Castaño Zacharias becomes the sixth journalist to be assassinated while practicing his work in Mexico since the beginning of this year.

The Zacatecas region recorded the deaths of 17 people, including the photojournalist Zakaria, in separate crimes between Tuesday and Wednesday.
