The Pentagon warned Monday that the likely leak of classified US documents, many of them related to the war in Ukraine and including Russia, posed a "very grave" threat to the national security of the United States and could lead to "loss of life." In recent days, dozens of documents and images have been leaked on Twitter, Telegram, Discord, and other sites, some of which may have been circulating for weeks, if not months.

The Pentagon said Monday that the likely leak of classified US documents, many of them related to the war in Ukraine, poses a "very serious" threat to the country's national security.

The leak, which the Justice Department has opened an investigation into, appears to include classified intelligence assessments and reports not only on Ukraine but also on Russia, and highly sensitive analyzes of US allies.

In the context, Chris Meagher, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, said in a statement to reporters that the documents circulating on the Internet pose "a very serious threat to national security and have the potential to spread misleading information." "We are still investigating how this happened and the scope of this case. Steps have been taken to look closely at how and where this information was disseminated," he added.

Dozens of documents and images have been leaked on Twitter, Telegram, Discord and other sites in recent days, and some of them may have been circulating on the network for weeks, if not months, before these documents attracted media attention last week. Many of them are no longer available on the sites where they were first published, amid reports that Washington is working to remove them.
