John Kirby, a spokesman for the National Security Council at the White House, said that the air strike in Syria aims to protect American soldiers, there where ISIS and Iranian-backed armed groups still pose a threat.
Kirby added in an interview with CNN that the United States does not seek conflict with Iran, and stressed that Tehran should not participate in supporting attacks on American facilities.

An official at the US Department of Defense revealed that the US forces in the region are on high alert to "deal with Tehran's destabilizing activities."
The official, who asked not to be named, explained that the air strike launched by the US Air Force against "the Revolutionary Guard'', is considered a direct warning to the Tehran regime not to continue launching attacks against US forces using explosive drones."

The military official said that President Joe Biden gave directions to the Pentagon to strike any Iranian threat, whether from the "Revolutionary Guard" or any groups loyal to it, anywhere in the region.
The official stated that "Iran's persistence in targeting US forces is a red line," and therefore Washington "will not allow the recurrence of these terrorist attacks."

He pointed out that Tehran and its affiliated factions in Syria have launched more than 30 attacks against US forces at the al-Tanf base in southern Syria, and other US bases in eastern and northern Syria since the beginning of this year.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that an unidentified plane bombed an ammunition depot in the Grain Center and the Rural Development Center opposite the officers' housing in the Harabish neighborhood of Deir Ezzor city. The bombing caused successive explosions in the armory and major fires. The explosions took place in the village of Al-Jafra, near the city of Deir Ezzor, killing 11 people, 5 of whom were Syrian nationals.

The American strike was carried out on Thursday evening and it came in response to a drone attack on a base in al-Hasakah, northeastern Syria, in which an American contractor was killed and 5 other soldiers were wounded, according to Washington.

It explained that the strike targeted facilities used by groups linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

"We will always take all necessary measures to protect our personnel, and we will respond at a time and place of our choosing," she said.
I emphasized the survival of American forces in Syria in order to ensure the continued defeat of ISIS.

Earlier, the "Pentagon" issued a statement quoting Secretary Lloyd Austin as saying: "According to President Biden's directives, I gave the Central Military Command the green light to carry out air strikes tonight in eastern Syria against facilities belonging to groups linked to the Revolutionary Guard."
He added that the air strike was not only a response to the recent attack, but also to a series of recent attacks against the coalition forces in Syria, and the perpetrators were linked to the Revolutionary Guards.
