US officials announced that an unknown object was shot down 10 miles off the frozen Alaskan coast on Friday afternoon, but there are no more details available about the object.
The mysterious object, which officials did not describe as a balloon, was shot down at 1:45 pm US Eastern time, according to the spokesman for the US Department of Defense "Pentagon", General Patrick Ryder.
It is unclear what the object looks like or where it came from, while Ryder explained with his statements that the object was heading northeast to Alaska, while he refused to provide a physical description of the object, saying only that it is "the size of a small car" and "does not resemble in size or shape" the Chinese observation balloon that was shot down off the coast of South Carolina on February 4.
Ryder explained that the Alaska National Guard and units of the US Northern Command, along with HC-130 Hercules, HH-60 Pave Hawk and CH-47 Chinook aircraft, are all participating in the recovery efforts of the body.
