Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo alleged

in his memoirs that former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley "conspired" with Ivanka, the daughter of former President Donald Trump, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner to try to become Trump's vice president, according to an excerpt from the book of memoirs seen by CNN.

Pompeo wrote that he was told by John Kelly, Trump's chief of staff at the time, that Haley had scheduled a meeting with the president to discuss what she claimed was a personal matter, and then came to the Oval Office meeting with Kushner and Ivanka Trump, who were then senior White House advisers.

CNN reached out to Kelly for comment on Pompeo's claim.

Haley refuted Pompeo's claims on Thursday, saying that she"did not have a conversation with Jared, Ivanka or the president about the post of Vice President".

Pompeo, in his book titled "Don't give an inch: fighting for the America I love," takes several shots at potential Republican rivals in 2024, including Haley and former national security adviser John Bolton, as the Kansas congressman and former CIA Director raises speculation about his own presidential ambitions.
