US Vice President Mike Pence revealed the designation that the space forces will carry in the United States Army.

"I am honored to announce on behalf of the President of the United States that the men and women who serve in the US space forces will be known from now on as the guards," Pence said in a speech delivered on Friday on the occasion of the first anniversary of the creation of the space forces in the US Army.

He continued, "The efforts, sailors, airmen, Marines and guards will defend our homeland for the sake of future generations."
