The Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed, in a press statement on Sunday, the start of talks

between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support forces in the Saudi city of

Jeddah, which are focused on the delivery of humanitarian aid, achieving a ceasefire and

confidence-building, in addition to the possibility of reaching a permanent cessation of hostilities,"the ministry said.

The foreign ministry added in its statement that "Saudi Arabia, the United States, the IGAD

organization and the African Union, the facilitators of the negotiation process, that the

negotiations will not address issues of a political nature".

Informed sources in the Rapid Support Forces confirmed that "Ambassador Omar Siddiq was

expelled as part of the Army delegation, and he receives the status of an expert only

because of the objection to him by the Rapid Support Forces delegation headed by Brigadier

General Omar Hamdan because of his affiliation with the former regime and party (National

Congress) dissolved.

The clashes continue, despite the start of negotiations between the parties to the conflict

(the army and the Rapid Support forces), as the Rapid Support Forces announced their

control over the city of Nyala in South Darfur state, the second largest city in Sudan in terms

of population.
