The Israeli police said that its operatives killed two Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem after they threw fireworks and stones at its troops during clashes on Tuesday evening in the town of Silwan.

Several Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem have been witnessing clashes between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces since Saturday.

Israel has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 1967, and 360 thousand Palestinians live there, calling the eastern part the capital of their future state.

On the other hand, Hezbollah on Wednesday launched rockets at an Israeli military site, in response to the killing of three of its members by an Israeli bombing two days ago on southern Lebanon.

The party announced in a statement that it targeted the "Zionist jihad site opposite the dahira area with guided missiles" in what it described as a"firm response to the Zionist attacks that led to the martyrdom of a number of Mujahideen brothers".

The IDF confirmed that its units shelled Lebanese territory, "in response to the firing of anti-tank missiles at IDF soldiers".

The Israeli army and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia exchange fire on the border, after the war between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza began on Saturday.

Salama Maarouf, head of the Government Information Office in Gaza, told AFP that the Gaza Strip is "facing a real humanitarian disaster with the power plant completely stopped within hours due to running out of fuel ... And the impossibility of continuing to provide all basic life services".

He added that the Hamas-run government in the Gaza Strip "launches a very urgent distress call to the international community and its humanitarian and relief organizations, the need to move quickly to stop this crime against humanity".

The war between Hamas and Israel has displaced more than 260,000 people inside the Gaza Strip since Saturday, as heavy Israeli air, land and sea bombardment of the Strip continues, the United Nations said.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in an update on Tuesday that "more than 263,934 people in Gaza are believed to have fled their homes," adding that "this number is likely to rise". About 3,000 people had been displaced "during previous escalations" before Saturday.

The bombings destroyed more than 1,000 housing units, while 560 units were severely damaged, rendering them uninhabitable, OCHA said, citing Palestinian sources. About 175,000 of those displaced have taken refuge in 88 schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA).More than 14,500 have been sent to 12 government schools, while about 74,000 are believed to be staying with relatives and neighbors or have taken refuge in churches and other facilities. The number of displaced people inside Gaza "represents the largest number of displaced people since the 50-day escalation in 2014,"she said.

"Meeting basic needs is becoming more difficult for those who have not been displaced,"ocha warned. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern after Israel announced the complete blockade, especially due to the already deteriorating humanitarian situation in the impoverished strip.
