Ziada Galant witnessed an interrogation of a Palestinian car driver who the Israeli army said was shot on Saturday after he drove his car towards a group of soldiers in the West Bank.
Tensions escalate between Israelis and Palestinians after months of violence in areas of Jerusalem and the West Bank. Tensions are also growing with Syria, Iran and the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah.
"All our fronts are tense. The Iranians are expanding their influence to (the West Bank) and Gaza and are trying to consolidate their foothold in Syria and Lebanon," Gallant said.
"We will not allow the Iranians and Hezbollah to harm us. We did not allow this in the past and we will not allow it now or at any time in the future," Gallant said during a visit to a military brigade in the West Bank.
Netanyahu announced Galant's dismissal a week ago after he made public statements against the course of the controversial judicial amendments being adopted by the government.
The announcement sparked concern abroad and an unprecedented protest in the streets, and Galant received no official letter of dismissal from Netanyahu.
Since then, Netanyahu's national religious coalition government has been delaying the judicial amendments.
