ISISDuring two attacks attributed to the terrorist organization Daesh, which has recently increased the frequency of its attacks in northern Iraq

A number of Iraqi soldiers were killed and wounded during the past hours

The Iraqi official news agency "Waa", quoting a security source, said that an explosive device targeted an Iraqi army vehicle in Makhmour District of Nineveh province, northern Iraq, the source added that the explosion killed and injured 5 soldiers.

"An explosive device exploded on a Humvee belonging to the 14th Division of the Iraqi army in Makhmour District of Nineveh governorate, killing two soldiers and injuring three others,"he explained.

The Makhmour mountains are one of the sanctuaries of the remnants of the terrorist organization Daesh, which Iraq declared defeated in 2017, but now and then launches attacks that have recently escalated.

In a related context, two Iraqi soldiers were killed and three others were injured in an IED attack targeting their vehicles in the neighboring province of Kirkuk.

But a security source in the province, who preferred anonymity, said that" elements "of ISIS" detonated two explosive devices targeting two military Humvees", before firing from"machine guns".

He added that two soldiers were killed as a result of this attack and 3 others were injured.

The attack comes after an ambush claimed by ISIS killed nine members of the Iraqi federal police in Kirkuk on Sunday.

Less than 24 hours later, the terrorist organization targeted civilians in one of the villages of Diyala province in eastern Iraq, killing 8 people.

Observers believe that the repeated occurrence of operations carried out by ISIS in a number of provinces of Iraq, where it was previously active during its control over large areas of the country between 2014 and 2017, is a danger of the return of the terrorist organization.

The experts recommended reviewing security plans and expanding the scope of proactive intelligence and military operations against the organization's dens and sleeper cells in many areas where ISIS remnants are stationed, especially in the northern and western regions of the country.

Observers also believe that the occurrence of terrorist attacks comes as a result of inattention and complacency for some forces, which allows gaps to be filled by ISIS terrorists to carry out their bloody operations.

The failure to activate information, intelligence and security follow - up continuously and seriously in large areas of the areas where terrorism was concentrated, the failure to track the movements of ISIS properly and monitor its supply lines, revived its presence in many Iraqi regions such as Kirkuk province
