Hebrew media said on Tuesday that an Iranian group of hackers had announced that they had dropped the Israel Broadcasting Authority's Kan website and seized the data of millions of Israelis, including Prime Minister Yair Lapid and opposition chief Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to Walla, the Iranian hackers group war_dark said it had managed to break a database containing some 9.5 million records of Israeli residents, including Yair Lapid and Benjamin Netanyahu.
The website added: "Pirates released partial information on 8,300 records, including, inter alia, name, identity card, date of birth and voting rights."
On Monday, Kan said Iran's Revolutionary Guard was behind cyberattacks by Israeli governmental and private bodies and institutions, including the hackers group Black Shadow, which leaked numerous files and personal details of Israelis.
In recent years, pirates, who Tel Aviv says are accountable to Iran, have intensified attacks on Israeli targets, including ministries, government institutions and insurance companies.
