"Operation Sadiq Dawn", Israeli aircraft shelled and completely demolished two homes in Gaza City, targeted a number of locations in various areas of the Strip, and Israeli fighters fired a number of rockets at a house in the Sheikh Ajilin neighbourhood, west of Gaza City, causing significant destruction to nearby homes
Earlier on Friday, the Israeli military announced the launch of Operation Sincere Dawn, targeting jihad positions in the Gaza Strip.
Days after the exchange of threats between the Israeli leadership and the Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip, following the detention by Israeli authorities of Bassam al-Saadi, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid announced on Friday the launch of a military operation in the Gaza Strip to eliminate "imminent threats" from the Strip
The Israeli army targeted Islamic Jihad headquarters that killed the movement's leading leader and northern Gaza Strip area official, Taseer al-Ja 'abari, where Israeli army leadership justified the attack that the movement was aimed at launching attacks on Israel
AFP quoted the IDF as saying it was "preparing for a week-long air operation on Gaza", denying any current negotiations with Islamic Jihad on a ceasefire.
In response to whether the Israeli army would target Hamas during its operations, Koukhav replied that "this operation is aimed at Islamic Jihad, but we are prepared for any scenario and are ready if necessary to launch a large operation".
In response to the attack, Jerusalem Companies, the military arm of Islamic Jihad, announced that some 100 rockets had been fired at Israel in response to the killing of Ja 'abari.
