Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu posted a new tweet on his official Twitter account this evening, demanding that his Israeli citizens walk out on a major protest against Naftali Bennett, next Thursday, over the involvement of the Israeli police service in spying on citizens.

In his tweet, Netanyahu made it clear that he was calling on Israeli citizens to take out a large demonstration at 7 p.m. next Thursday, after tomorrow, in one of the major fields in Tel Aviv, which is "Habima" in the city centre.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had asked the Shabak and foreign intelligence services to participate in investigations to verify that the Israeli police service was involved in spying on Israeli citizens and suspects under investigation, using the Pegasus software produced by the Israeli group NSO.

Two days ago, Bennett decided to examine the 26 officials from local authorities, municipalities, general managers and under-secretaries, for whom the Kalkalist economic supplement of the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz said the police had monitored them through the use of the NSO Pegasus program.

A well-known Israeli source said: "Under Israeli police preliminary investigation, of the 26 names mentioned in the Calcalist investigation, only Pegasus was operated on three by warrant, and they succeeded in hacking only one phone."

A source familiar with the details in the cabinet of Prime Minister Bennett asserted that "the reason for the inclusion of Shabak and Mossad representatives in the investigation crew is their knowledge of the techniques allegedly used, and also because they are independent and their organizations are not directly linked to the event."
