A source today stated that the National Union of Kurdistan (ANK) party has unanimously nominated "Saleh" for a second term in the presidency of Iraq.
The source added that the candidate for the office of President of the Republic is still complicating the political landscape, which is not originally a breakthrough because of the continuing differences within the Shi'ite House, despite the nomination of candidates. "Saleh" and "Hoshyar Zebari" have shown themselves as candidates for President of the Republic in a scene that may recall the scenario of 2018. Some talk of a breakthrough in dialogues within the Kurdish House.
The member of the National Union of Kurdistan indicated positive signs in the dialogue with the Democrat, while another stressed that this file would not be a stumbling block or impediment between the two parties.
A member of the National Union of Kurdistan, Mahmoud Khushnao, stressed that there were signs and optimism that could lead to positive results with regard to the candidate for the presidency of the Republic and the other files shared by the National Union and the Democratic Union of Kurdistan.
Khoshnao added that "the parties are seriously seeking to reach understandings and go to Baghdad with a single candidate for the post of President of the Republic and no rivalry between them in Baghdad."
It notes that "there are candidates for the office of President of the Republic, but this does not mean the end of the matter. The dialogues are continuing and the formal steps are still not being announced once and for all by either one or two candidates."
"There is a case of optimism in reaching understandings and there are positive indicators that may lead to positive outcomes that, to date, suggest an understanding, even though everything is in the political sphere, even though the foundations of the Kurdish House are essentially the preservation of constitutional gains."
