Days after the Yemeni group Ansar Allah targeted sites in the emirate of Abu Dhabi with marching aircraft and ballistic missiles.
For safety and security reasons, the UAE authorities announced a one-month suspension of flight operations for owners and amateurs of drones in the country.
The Ministry of the Interior said it called for the cessation of the flight operations of owners and amateurs of drones, which include users of drones and light sports aircraft of various forms and types.
The moratorium included the current practice of air and sailing sports, in coordination with the General Authority for Civil Aviation.
The UAE interior stated that the decision came against the backdrop of recently monitored malpractice practices of non-compliance with the exercise of this sport in geographical areas identified by the permits issued to users, where areas not allowed to play the sport were used.
The Ministry asked the community to abide by its instructions and those of the General Authority for Civil Aviation, in order to preserve the safety of life, property and the atmosphere as a result of the improper and unsafe use of the hobby. The practice of the hobby will therefore be suspended for one month from Saturday, 22 January 2022.
