At the conclusion of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Doha and in a joint statement of the two States, Saudi Arabia and Qatar today stressed that Lebanon should not be a source of threat to security in the region.

The statement made clear that on the Lebanese issue, both sides stressed "the importance of comprehensive reforms to ensure that Lebanon bypasses its crises, and that Lebanon is not the starting point for any actions that destabilize the security and stability of the region, or the drug trade corridor."

Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Qatar is the first since the outbreak of the crisis between Qatar and the Arab Quartet in 2017.

Relations between Doha, on the one hand, and Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, on the other, were restored after the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Egypt adopted at the summit hosted by Saudi Arabia on 5 January 2017 a statement confirming the "unity of the Gulf row" and establishing basic principles for resolving outstanding problems, ending the Gulf crisis since 5 June 2017.
