By gaining 73 seats in the 329-seat parliament, confirming the victory of Moqtada al-Sadr's parliamentary bloc as the largest bloc, Iraqi official media announced the final results of last month's elections.

According to the results, the Sunni minority-supported Progress Party won 37 seats, the Rule of Law Coalition led by former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki gained 33 and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) 31.

Overall, the results were in line with the initial results announced following the October 10 election, and the calculations are unlikely to change as politicians negotiate the formation of the new government. Pro-Iran groups, which did not do well in the elections, refused to accept the results.

UNHCR said the turnout was 44%, adjusted to 43% in the initial results. However, the proportion is still lower compared to the previous elections in 2018.

The Committee said that more than 9.6 million people had voted in last month's elections, in which at least 167 parties and more than 3200 candidates contested the 329 seats in Parliament.
