The Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, welcomed any attempt by the League of Arab States to restore fraternal relations with Saudi Arabia, especially since Lebanon had only good, progress and prosperity.

President Awan, the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, informed Ambassador Hossam Zaki, during his reception earlier this afternoon, at the Baabda Palace, that Lebanon was "keen to establish the best and best relations with our sister Arab States, particularly Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, and had left no occasion but to express this concern."

He drew attention to the need to separate the positions of the Lebanese State from those of individuals or groups, especially those outside positions of responsibility, taking into account the requirements of the democratic system chosen by the Lebanese, which guaranteed freedom of opinion and thought within the parameters of the law.

"What has happened recently between Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must be addressed through sincere dialogue based on the foundations of the Arab Brotherhood and cooperation and coordination between the institutions of the two sister States, given the historic relations they have always had and will remain in the interests of both peoples."

He stressed that Lebanon would not hesitate to take any position that would help to create an open atmosphere that took into account national sovereignty and mutual interest in relations between the two sister States in order to ensure that they were durable and not affected by individual and passing events.
