Witnesses confirmed the sound of a "huge doi" in the Syrian capital Damascus on Saturday evening, before the Syrian news agency revealed the cause of the elosion.

The Syrian news agency said that the sound of the large Dwei heard in the capital was the result of an operation to remove explosive remnants in rural Damascus.

The remnants of war are one of the greatest obstacles facing civilians wishing to renovate their homes before returning to them. The neighbourhoods of Syrian cities have seen the gradual return of their inhabitants, should they be able to obtain security approvals from the intelligence branches in the area.

It is noted that dozens of civilians who decided to return to their homes were hit by sporadic explosions, amid the demand of the population that the rubble should be cleaned in the presence of a military engineering commission for the removal of explosives.
