Today, Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazemi announced the designation of 6 March as the National Day of Tolerance and Coexistence in Iraq.

This announcement followed a visit that brought together the Great Ink (Pope Francis) and the Supreme Rev. Ali Al - Sistani, today Saturday, in the Iraqi city of Najaf.

Kazemi tweeted on his official Twitter account: "On the occasion of the historic meeting between the Poles of Peace and Tolerance, the High Commissioner's indulgence of Mr. Ali Al-Sistani, His Holiness Pope Francis and the meeting of religions in the historic city of Ur, we declare March 6th each year a National Day of Tolerance and Coexistence in Iraq."

Pope Francis arrived in Baghdad yesterday Friday, at the beginning of a historic four-day visit to Iraq, the first-ever papal visit to Iraq.

In announcing his visit to Iraq, Pope Francis took an interest in making his visit a "message of resilience" to the Christians of Iraq, who, according to him, are among the oldest and most ancient Christians in the region and who have faced major challenges.
