"The Zaporizhian authorities decided to temporarily move the residents of 18 towns near the front line further into the region due to the increasing Ukrainian shelling," Vladimir Rogov said on the Telegram app.

The town of Innerhodar, where the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is located, will be one of the sites to be evacuated, Rogov said.

Residents of the towns of Tokmak and Boluhi, as well as Kamianka and Rusevka, have also been told to pack up and leave.

Some of the towns that have been identified are located 40 kilometers behind the current front line, but a Ukrainian counter-attack is expected in the near future after months of talk about preparations for this expected attack.
