Especially since his country represented a bridge to cross goods and gas into Europe, the Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, gave advice to the European Union to think before imposing any new sanctions against Minsk.
Regarding the possibility of arming migrants by Belarusian intelligence, the Belarusian official agency "Belta" quoted President Lukashenko, who replied to Poland: "There are reports and information about the attempt to provide military weapons to the migrants at the Polish border, which is not true and all actions will be taken by the authorities to deny this officially."
Lukashenko pointed out that the Belarusian authorities were supposed to resolve the issue: "This is a matter of our army and our State Security Committee."
According to Lukashenko, "In Belarus they are forced to control the situation along the border so that weapons will not be handed over or shown, there are Kurdish and Kurdish migrants who are combatants and have military experience.
Polish Government spokesman Piotr Müller expressed his country's concern that Belarusian intelligence would supply illegal immigrants with weapons.
In an interview with Wirtwalna Polska, Mueller said: "One of the expected options is to supply arms to Belarusian intelligence agents, for example, one, two or three persons, who will simply find a reason to use them, exacerbating the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border."
"Subsequently, the Belarusian authorities will deny their connection with this matter," Mueller continued.
Earlier today, Polish radio reported that two large groups of Asian and African migrants from the territory of Belarus had crossed the border and reached Polish territory.
Polish border guards have been able to return some migrants to Belarusian territory, while searches for others continue.
Earlier, the Polish authorities confirmed that between 2,000 and 4,000 people near the border between Belarus and Poland were seeking access to the European Union.
