Starting from Friday (October 30), smoking hookahs (hookahs) are prohibited in public places in Russia, including restaurants, cafes and bars.
This came according to an amendment to the Law "to protect citizens' health from the effects of tobacco smoke and the effects of its use."
The amendment, which was approved by the Russian Parliament earlier, bears the name "Banning the use of products containing nicotine or the use of hookahs in some areas and public facilities."
The new amendment aims to reduce tobacco use in Russia and prevent citizens from contracting diseases caused by tobacco smoke and the toxic substances it contains.
According to the amendments, fines will be imposed on violators ranging from 500 to 1500 rubles for people, while the fine for owners of restaurants and bars will amount to 40 thousand rubles (about 500 dollars), with a possible increase of up to 90 thousand rubles.
