On Thursday, the United States, South Korea and Japan condemned the latest test conducted by North Korea, during which it launched two ballistic missiles, considering that this test violates UN Security Council resolutions.

In a joint statement, the three countries said: "the United States, Japan and South Korea condemn the missile launches carried out by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today," according to an official statement from the White House.

"These launches are a clear violation of Security Council resolutions and reflect the threat posed by the DPRK's illegal weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs to the region and international peace and security,"the statement added.

The South Korean military announced on Thursday that North Korea had launched two short-range ballistic missiles towards the East Sea.

The Joint Chiefs of staff in Seoul reported that it monitored the launches between 10:25 and 10: 37 AM GMT, from the Sunan area towards the sea of Japan, according to the Korean news agency "Yonhap".

"While our troops have strengthened surveillance and vigilance against additional provocations, our military maintains a state of readiness in close cooperation with America,"the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a text message sent to reporters.

The South Korean general staff had reported, earlier on Thursday, that North Korea launched a ballistic missile towards the sea of Japan, and the Japanese broadcaster "NHK", citing sources, reported that the missile landed in Japanese exclusive economic waters.

North Korea has conducted dozens of missile test launches since the beginning of 2022, and Pyongyang said North Korea's military activities were in response to the "provocations" of South Korea and its allies, the United States and Japan.
