The (Gigi Press) news service quoted the land Self-Defense Forces as saying that the body was discovered and pulled from the seabed on Monday when a private salvage company moved the apparent wreckage of a helicopter "UH-60 Ja" underwater in preparation for its recovery.

She reported that the body apparently belongs to an adult male, and his clothes indicate that he was a member of the Ground Self-Defense Forces, indicating that the Ground Self-Defense Forces are working to identify the body.

She added that five bodies recovered after deep sea diving on April 16 have already been identified.

The helicopter with 10 Ground Self-Defense Force members on board disappeared from radar on April 6 in what is believed to be an accident about 18 km northwest of an airport on Okinawa's Miyakojima island.
