The Sankey newspaper reported that Washington
It has proposed deploying medium-range missiles in Japan as part of a plan to strengthen defenses against China in the East and South China Seas, citing unidentified sources.
The newspaper added that sending equipment to US forces in Japan may include long-range supersonic weapons and Tomahawk missiles. She said that Tokyo is determined to start serious discussions towards accepting the deployment of weapons.
The location of the weapons deployment was not disclosed, but Sankei said Japan had the southern island of Kyushu in mind. It was not clear from the report whether Sankey quoted one or more sources.
Japan and the United States want to support the islands that separate the East China Sea from the western Pacific because they are close to Taiwan, which China considers part of it.
