After a months-long postponement due to the crisis in Ukraine, India launched a rocket carrying 36 internet satellites
The launch conducted from South India was the first for the company "one web", based in London, since the separation from the Russian space agency in March due to the military operation in Ukraine.
The head of the Indian space agency, S Somanath, said that 16 satellites have been put into orbit, expressing optimism that the remaining twenty satellites will be separated safely like the first 16.
The company "one web" now has 462 satellites in orbit, to provide broadband internet services around the world.
Despite the turmoil this year, the company said it was still on track to activate global coverage next year by deploying 648 satellites as planned.
Each of the satellites of "one web" weighs about 150 kilograms.
This was the 14th launch of the company" one web " in total, and relied on the heaviest rocket in India, which is usually intended for government spacecraft.
All previous launches of the company were on Russian rockets, and its first launch was conducted in 2019.
