Since the election of Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen in 2016, which refuses to acknowledge Beijing's positions that the island is part of China, China has stepped up its military, diplomatic and economic pressure on Taiwan.
The Taiwanese President, Tsai Eng Won, called on the island to "strengthen its vigilance" about Chinese military activities, as the world was concerned about the crisis in Ukraine, while Beijing considered Taiwan "not Ukraine," stressing that it had always been an integral part of China.
Beijing is waving for the restoration of Taiwan, albeit by force if necessary, and has intensified its military activity near the island in the past two years, the latter not reporting any unusual manoeuvres carried out by Chinese forces, as tensions over Ukraine escalate.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chun Ying denied any connection between Melvin Ukraine and Taiwan: "Taiwan is not Ukraine. Taiwan has always been an integral part of China. This is an indisputable legal and historical fact. "
The question of Taiwan remained outstanding after the civil war in China, recognizing that there was no bargaining over China's territorial integrity.
The speaker refers to General Chiang Kai-shek and his supporters fleeing to Taiwan in 1949, after losing the civil war to the communists who founded the "People's Republic of China," led by Mao Zedong.
The spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office in China, Ma Xiao Guang, considered that Taiwan was coordinating with the West to use Ukraine to promote "malicious" information about military threats and to stir up anti-Beijing sentiments.
The Chinese statements followed Taiwan President Tsai Eng - won's statement, during a meeting of a National Security Council working group on the Ukrainian crisis, that all security and military units should "increase their level of observation and early warning of military developments around the Taiwan Strait."
Taiwan and Ukraine differed fundamentally in terms of strategic geography, geography and international supply chains. And I turned: "In the face of foreign forces intending to manipulate the situation in Ukraine and to influence the morale of Taiwanese society, all government units must promote the prevention of cognitive warfare by foreign forces and local collaborators."
