The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdul Rahman Al Zailai, thanked the UAE for providing the city of Berbera with a solar energy station.

Al-Zailai said in a tweet on his Twitter account on Tuesday: “As Vice President of Somaliland, I extend my sincere thanks to the Emirates of Goodness and its wise leadership, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the champion of peace and prosperity, may God protect him, for the precious honor for providing the city of Berbera with a 7 megawatt solar energy station.”

The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland attached his tweet to a set of pictures that show the installation of the solar power plant in the city of Berbera.

On August 10, Al-Zailai announced the near completion of the Berbera port expansion project, thanking the UAE and Dubai Ports for the efforts to develop the port, to become a major transit point for various goods from regional and global markets, and contribute to attracting investors, diversifying the economy and providing job opportunities.

DP World has taken over management of Berbera Port since March 2017, and maintains a 51% stake compared to 30% for the Port Authority in Somaliland and 19% for Ethiopia.
