According to eyewitnesses, clashes took place in the city of Darfur, Sudan, between Arab tribes of pastoralists and African tribes in a village near Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state

Tribal clashes have killed at least seven people in this vast and volatile region of western Sudan, the official Sudan news agency reported.

However, the reasons for these confrontations could not be immediately determined.

"A group of shepherds riding camels and motorcycles began attacking the village of Amori, the village was burned, four citizens were killed and three others were injured," Sudan news agency quoted the South Darfur State Security Committee as saying, as well as two more people were killed on Wednesday and Thursday.

After that, another person also died in these clashes, which spread to neighboring villages whose shops were looted and partially burned, according to the same source.

Tribal clashes are frequent in the Darfur region, which has been experiencing a state of instability since 2003 as a result of the conflict that began after armed groups belonging to African minorities took up arms against the Arab-backed Khartoum government, claiming to marginalize the region politically and economically.

According to the UN, the conflict has left 300 thousand dead and displaced 2,5 million people.

The frequency of tribal conflicts increased after the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir in 2019 by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the commander of the Sudanese army
