Today, Ethiopian network ABC News quoted Habtamo Etiva as saying: "Besides fighting against terrorists, we continue to build the Great Renaissance Dam."

The Ethiopian Minister of Energy and Water, Haptamu Etiva, also confirmed today that his country is continuing the construction of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, on the Nile River, along with its fighting against terrorists.

Noting that the completion of the second phase of the dam would allow 600 to 700 MW of electricity to be generated, he added that regular construction and work on the Renaissance Dam was progressing well.

Last Wednesday, the Ethiopian army announced that it had deployed units around the Nahda dam, to secure it against any danger after attempts to attack it.

The army also pledged to secure the construction of the dam until its completion.

In order to provide the necessary protection for the completion of construction and the transport of construction materials, his forces were currently guarding the area, accompanied by mechanized units, infantry and members of the regional special forces.

It should be noted that the central Ethiopian Government has been fighting a protracted conflict since last year against the Tigray Liberation Front, which has evolved dramatically in recent weeks to the extent that Addis Ababa called for a declaration of emergency and urged the population to take up arms, while several of its nationals have called for a speedy departure from the country.
