The military spokesman for the Tigray Liberation Front (TPLF) confirmed that there was no truth to its claim that there were fighters on the market, that Ethiopian forces had beaten civilians in the Territory with aircraft in a crowded market.

Gujama described the beating of Ethiopian aircraft to the market as a crime, denying that there were fighters inside the market.

He said: "There were none of our armed forces in Togoga. They are committing a crime against our people. "

At least 30 people were reportedly killed in an attack on a popular market in the town of Togoga, west of the regional capital Michele, and more than 60 people were injured, including a two-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy.

The Ethiopian army's military spokesman, Colonel Getinit Adani, denied that Ethiopian forces had targeted civilians in an airstrike last Tuesday, confirming that those on the market were plain-clothes fighters.

Ethiopian military operations continue in the Tigray Region, leading to an escalating human rights crisis within the Territory.

Recalling that the United States Department of State had called for an independent investigation into the deaths of three MSF workers in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, asserting that the Ethiopian Government "ultimately bears full responsibility for ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers,"

Ethiopia began a war in Tigray Province in November last year, and confirmed at the time that it was responding to attacks by the Tigray People's Liberation Front against the Ethiopian army, pledging that it would not take much time.

Thousands were killed and some 2 million people were forced to leave their homes in Tigray after the conflict between the Tigray People's Liberation Front and the Ethiopian army broke out in November, and troops from the neighbouring province of Amhara and Eritrea entered the war to support the government.
