A spokesman for the French organizers of the Paris Air Show said that next year's fair has been canceled in light of the coronavirus challenge facing the global aviation sector.

The event, along with the British Farnborough Airshow, which are held alternately every year, are the sector's two largest.

The cancellation of next year's fair is the latest indication of the depth of the crisis caused by the pandemic afflicting airlines and manufacturers.

This comes, while the French Ministry of Health announced in the latest statistics it published yesterday, Sunday, that the total number of deaths due to the virus in the country reached 55,155, while the total number of infections reached 2292497.
