The Western media paid attention to the so-called "doomsday planes" that are available on the Russian and American sides and that would play the role of a flying hideout and ensure the safety of the two countries' political and military leadership.

And the Spanish newspaper, El Espanol, published an article in this regard, in which it said that the atmosphere is the best place to protect the country's leadership when a nuclear war breaks out, indicating that such aircraft must be steadfast in the face of the electromagnetic pulses resulting from a nuclear explosion.

The newspaper said that the Russian "Il-80" plane is performing the function of the flying command center, noting that the fuselage is clear of windows.

The author of the article pointed to the so-called "hump" prominent at the top of the plane devoted to communication antennas for satellites and strategic submarines. The wings of the plane were provided with generators.

The newspaper said that "Il-80" will be replaced with the passage of time, "Il-96-400M" modern aircraft, which increases the duration of stay in the air and the range of sending commands.

However, according to the newspaper, the United States is using the E-4 as a flying command post. It is an upgraded version of the Boeing 747-200. It was designed in the 1970s, before the Soviet "Il-80" design. It was provided with digital and analog communication devices for the land and sea forces. It has 3 floors and a few halls. It can stay in the air for 150 hours, provided it is airlifted.
