The report said President Joe Biden's administration is considering taking enforcement action against the company under its Internet security rules
The administration stepped up its national security probe, extending to Kaspersky anti-virus software, last year as concerns about Russian cyber attacks mounted after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.
US regulators have already banned the federal government from using Kaspersky software
Asked to comment on the report, the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security said it does not comment on any potential action taken against a specific company.
He added that the department "is committed to fully exercising its powers to protect Americans' sensitive data and to working with Congress, with bipartisan support, to address emerging risks."
The action against Kaspersky, which was mentioned in the report, comes after the introduction of new US legislation that allows the White House to ban the Chinese TikTok application or other foreign applications if they pose a threat to national security.
