     The first military garrison was deployed by America in Poland, a step that Washington considers a sign of the "unity" of NATO in confronting Russia in its war with Ukraine.
During an official ceremony on Tuesday, US Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski said: "It shows that we are here to stay. This is a message to the entire world that the United States is committed to Poland and NATO. We are united in the face of Russian aggression."

This garrison, the eighth in Europe, will be responsible for coordinating support for US forces deployed in Poland and throughout NATO's eastern flank.

The garrison was established based on the decision of the President of the United States in the year 2022 and will serve as the headquarters of the Fifth Corps of the US Army. Currently, more than 10,000 soldiers are stationed in Poland, through which most of the military equipment destined for Ukraine passes.

"We greatly appreciate the permanent presence of American forces in our country. We especially appreciate it in the current situation in Europe, with Russia invading Ukraine and trying to rebuild its empire," said Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.

He added, "The command of the Fifth Corps in the US Army has begun to operate, so the US ground forces are commanded from Poland in the eastern wing of NATO," stressing that the garrison is "important for the security of our country and the security of the entire eastern wing of NATO."
