In a move described by observers as coming to strengthen relations between Washington and Cairo during the coming period, the announcement of US President Joe Biden,
during his speech at the "cop 27" climate summit, his country and Germany pledged to provide 500 million dollars to Egypt, in order to switch to clean energy, was widely welcomed in Egypt
In addition, Biden stressed that the United States will also provide 150 million dollars to African countries in order to address the consequences of climate change, which he described as "related to human security, economic security, environmental security, national security and the very life of the planet".
The support provided by Washington and Berlin will allow Egypt to obtain 10 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030 and improve 5 gigawatts of gas-generated energy, which will reduce Egypt's emissions in the energy range of 10 percent.
It is expected that the US administration will work with Egypt to reserve 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which the country is currently losing in burning, wind and leakage.
Earlier, the Egyptian Deputy Minister of planning, Ahmed Kamali, revealed that Cairo aims to reach 50 percent of green projects from the total state budget during the fiscal plan for 2024-2025, after it managed to reach 30 percent of green projects during the current year.

The US pledges came after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called in his opening speech for the summit to be "the summit of implementation of previous pledges by countries of the world on supporting green economy projects".
