Elisabeth Alexander, director of communications for the First Lady of the United States, has announced that Jill Biden, the wife of US President Joe Biden, has contracted COVID-19.

Elizabeth Alexander explained that tests conducted for Jill Biden showed that her condition was positive, while she had symptoms described as slight.

A statement by Elizabeth Alexander, director of Jill Biden's communications office, said the latter was vacationing with her husband, Joe Biden, in South Carolina, when she began experiencing symptoms on Monday.

Under the established procedures, Jill Biden will remain in South Carolina's private residence until two tests with a negative result, respectively.

On Monday, Jill Biden had a quick scan, which tested negative.

According to the communications director, the first lady who took the vaccine, and then two enhanced doses, takes a treatment from the Pfizer medicine "Pax Lovid."

The White House said U.S. President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday morning, but will wear a medical mask indoors for 10 days, in line with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
