In the largest-ever war exercises in Taiwan's ocean, China is conducting a review of its military and technological weapons, some of which appear for the first time. In an

evolution of events in the Taiwan Strait, Taiwan's Defense Ministry said that the Air Force deployed fighter jets to remove 20 Chinese aircraft, including 14 that crossed the line in the Taiwan Strait.

According to the Ministry of Defence, "Taipei forces have observed several groups of Chinese aircraft and vessels carrying out activities around the Taiwan Strait, some across the midline, believed to be simulating an attack on the main island of Taiwan"

The Ministry added in a statement that it had also monitored 14 Chinese military vessels carrying out activities around the Taiwan Strait, according to Reuters.

The White House called on China to halt the military manoeuvres it has conducted since U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, in order to reduce tensions in the region.

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said: "The Chinese can do a lot to reduce tension by stopping their provocative military exercises and calming the tone."

He further stressed that the United States would continue its military contacts at the highest level with China despite Beijing's announcement to suspend several cooperation agreements, which also included this area.

Through these exercises, Beijing seeks to assert its "entitlement" to Taiwan's annexation, and to warn Washington to support the island

China began its manoeuvres in 6 trends around Taiwan, some at a distance of just 20 kilometres, in response to Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, which Beijing considers part of its territory.
