During his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi confirmed on Monday Egypt's full readiness to provide its facilities, to deliver gas extracted from the Eastern Mediterranean region to Europe, to ease the effects of the gas shortage crisis there.

Sisi said during a joint press conference with Schultz in Germany: "I have confirmed Egypt's full readiness to lay the foundations for a strong partnership with Germany in the field of energy of all kinds, both through the export of natural gas to Germany and the European Union within the framework of Egypt's ambitious vision of becoming a regional centre for energy production and export."

He added: "We have signed an agreement with the European Union on this subject and we have confirmed Egypt's readiness to provide its facilities for the delivery of Eastern Mediterranean gas to Europe to mitigate the effects of this crisis."

"All the gas that can be extracted from the Eastern Mediterranean can be exported to Europe with the possibilities already available. We are ready for this, and if we have a role in mitigating the effects of any crisis, we are ready to play that role. "

Sisi considered that "today's international arena is experiencing multiple challenges at a delicate and critical time that requires all of us to keep the channels of consultation open to finding solutions to address these challenges."
