Against the backdrop of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Russian-American relations appear to be taking a new turn, and this is evident in the fact that Russian

President Vladimir Putin decided not to congratulate U.S. President Joe Biden and Americans on Independence Day this year, according to Dmitry Peskov, Russian presidential spokesman for the Kremlin.

Peskov announced that the Russian president would not congratulate his American counterpart Joe Biden and the American people on Independence Day.

"No congratulatory telegram will be sent this year," Peskov said in response to a question from reporters.

"This is due to the fact that this year has in fact become the culmination of an unfriendly policy towards our country by the United States," Peskov added.

Peskov explained: "Therefore, of course under these circumstances this cannot be considered appropriate to send such a congratulatory message."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow was ready to establish a mutually respectful dialogue with Washington under Biden's presidency.
