The Queen of Britain, Elizabeth II, today received the Sultan of Oman Haytham bin Tariq and his wife, at Windsor Castle on a private visit to the United Kingdom.

One Omani news agency recalled that the meeting had witnessed an exchange of friendly talks, a review of historical relations between the two countries and close cooperation in all areas, in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

The Agency stated that the British Queen had presented the High Order of Knight to the Sultan of Oman as an expression of appreciation and pride in the historic relations between the two countries.

The health status of the Queen, who has been in control for nearly 70 years, has been a cause for concern since her doctors advised her to take some rest on 20 October and she spent a night in the hospital for "preliminary" tests that did not specify their nature.
