Businessman Glenn de Vries, died in a plane crash in New Jersey, after his unique trip to space made headlines last month.

The report indicated that the plane had crashed in Sussex County, and that de Vries (49) and another man, Thomas Fisher, had died. The Federal Aviation Administration is conducting an investigation into the incident.

DeVries had gone to space with Representative William Shatner, on board a vehicle operated by Blue Oregon, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos.

Commenting on the news of his death, Blue Oregon tweeted: "We mourn the news of Glenn de Vries' sudden death. It caused a great deal of life and energy for the entire Blue Oregon team, and its crew colleagues. "
