Based on a feature requested by a large number of users. WhatsApp Online announced the launch of the One Time View feature.
According to British website Sky News, the new feature allows people to send videos and photos that are "automatically deleted after being seen once."
This image or video sender can click on the "View One" or "View Once" icon in the text bar before sending the message.
The sender will be warned not to send images or video clips on display once to "trusted persons," as it is still possible to capture a "screen shot" or record the video before it disappears.
WhatsApp said the new feature gives the user "more control over his privacy."
The company also noted that "if the recipient chooses to report the video or images, it will be redirected to the WhatsApp security team for verification."
Although messages on WhatsApp are encrypted from party to party, except when someone is reported, a non-encrypted copy is sent to the company.
It should be noted that some observers viewed this feature as being copied from Snapchat and Instagram, following its debut in 2017.
