Players of an amateur soccer team in the city of Oriangato, in the central Mexican state of Guanajato, were attacked last Sunday, killing four people and wounding three others.

According to the "Heraldo" newspaper, unidentified gunmen carried out several explosions before storming the stadium near a cemetery, and then opened fire on the players who were celebrating victory in the stands after the match, killing four people and wounding three others.

The competent authorities have begun to investigate the circumstances of the accident, and the cause of the attack is still unknown.

There were 333 murders recorded in the state of Guanajuato, making it the first in the country by this index.
