UFC President Dana White has confirmed that Habib Nurmagomedov, the organization's champion of mixed martial arts, will retain his title because he expects the Russian to reverse his decision to retire due to the dream of a 30th victory.
UFC lightweight champion Habib announced his retirement immediately after defeating American Justin Gaetji, on October 24, in Abu Dhabi, achieving his 29th victory in his professional career, without suffering any defeat.
Retiring now means giving up his belt, but Dana White supported the Russian fighter to return to the battlefield and continue the fight.
"He (Habib) was very emotional after the fight, and you know that he had mumps ... and then he broke his toe ... He fought the fight, and with the loss of his father, I think he was only affected at that moment," he told ESPN.
He continued, "I have a feeling that he wants to achieve the 30th victory in his career, and he will return for that. His father wanted to reach the 30th victory."
He emphasized, "He is the lightweight champion at the moment, there is no vacant belt, there is no temporary title, there is no vacant title, nothing of that."
After announcing his official retirement from the mixed martial arts sport, Habib revealed that he spoke with his mother for three days, and promised her that he would not fight any fight after confronting Gaetji, due to his loss of his father and his coach, Abd al-Munaf Nurmuhamedov, who is 56 years old, due to his infection with the Corona virus, indicating His desire to spend more time with his mother.
